For selected users who find the transition from sitting to standing difficult, Scorpio's electric linear actuator can provide mechanical assistance while the caregiver or therapist follows an approved setup and transfer plan.

This is the device's primary functional difference from a conventional gait trainer.

Supported Standing Activities

Once positioned appropriately, Scorpio can be used in therapist-prescribed standing tasks with chest, pelvic, arm and knee positioning adjusted to the user's needs.

The clinician determines posture, duration and safe lower-limb loading.

Stroke and Hemiplegia Rehabilitation

For some individuals recovering from stroke or living with one-sided weakness, Scorpio may help provide access to supported upright training and subsequent assisted stepping practice.

Suitability depends on balance, limb control, cognition and caregiver assistance.

Neurological and Spinal Rehabilitation

Selected users with spinal cord injury, brain injury, cerebral palsy, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis or other neurological conditions may be assessed for the system.

Clinical diagnosis does not establish whether the user can safely stand or walk in Scorpio.

Gait Practice Following Standing

Scorpio can be used for user- and therapist-guided stepping once the individual is upright and appropriately supported.

The walking function is not described as motor-driven.

The product does not measure a prescribed body-weight-unloading percentage or establish full suspension.

Rehabilitation at Home or in a Clinic

The system may be incorporated into clinical programmes or a suitable home routine where a trained caregiver, level floor, sufficient manoeuvring space and appropriate emergency planning are available.

Reduced Manual Standing Effort

The powered mechanism can reduce the need for caregivers to generate all of the sit-to-stand lifting force manually.

Who May Need Another Device

• A person who requires a general-purpose bed-to-chair transfer lift rather than rehabilitation standing should be assessed for a dedicated hoist.
• A person requiring full body-weight suspension during walking may need an overhead-supported gait trainer; Scorpio's current uploaded record does not validate full suspension.
• Someone able to stand and walk with only light pelvic support may be better served by a conventional or partial-support adult gait trainer.

Choosing Between Scorpio and Other Morecare Solutions

Scorpio's defining function is powered transition from sitting into supported standing, followed by supervised gait practice.

Lotus provides partial pelvic support for users already able to participate in standing and stepping.

i-Gait provides overhead body-weight support for a different training need.

A patient-transfer hoist has a separate purpose and should not be substituted by Scorpio without device-specific approval.

Before Every Session

• Follow an individualized rehabilitation assessment and the current manufacturer manual for standing, walking, transfers and caregiver assistance.
• Confirm the user fits the arm supports, knee supports, chest harness and pelvic harness; do not exceed the manufacturer-confirmed production weight limit. The website lists 150 kg but earlier Scorpio data listed 125 kg, so approve the final value before release.
• Inspect frame, welds, fasteners, moving joints, lifting mechanism, harness attachments, straps, buckles, castors, brakes, battery, handset and charger before use.
• Position on firm, level indoor flooring with adequate space for caregivers and movement; use the validated stationary brake procedure before adjustment or powered standing.
• Ensure the user has been fitted and the chest and pelvic harnesses secured without restricting breathing or applying excessive pressure.
• Agree on the correct transfer and emergency recovery process, including what to do if the actuator stops or battery power is lost.

During Powered Standing

• A qualified rehabilitation professional or trained caregiver must supervise use according to the user's handling needs.
• Operate the electric lifting system only with the supplied wired controller and current manufacturer's procedure.
• Support and observe the user throughout movement; keep hands, feet, clothing and medical tubing away from moving joints, castors and the actuator.
• Stop the operation if there is pain, dizziness, poor posture, instability, unusual noises or irregular lifting.
• Electric assistance does not by itself guarantee that one caregiver is sufficient for transfers; staffing must follow the user's assessed handling plan.

During Supported Walking

• Begin gait practice only when the clinician confirms adequate positioning, support and appropriate lower-limb loading for the activity.
• Set brakes and wheel orientation according to the manufacturer-validated gait-mode instructions; the source conflicts about which wheels have locks.
• Guide the user on a firm, level route free from obstacles. Avoid slopes, stairs, curbs and unsuitable outdoor surfaces.
• Do not use the chest or pelvic harness as a general-purpose lifting sling or infer a full-body suspension capacity from the electric sit-to-stand mechanism.

Power, Battery and Emergency Planning

• Recharge the lithium-ion battery only with the supplied approved 24V, 2A charger and in accordance with the manual.
• The published performance is up to 200 standing cycles and approximately four hours to recharge; results depend on loading and battery condition.
